I was hanging out with some friends and they told me to look up these youtube videos — and I spent hours watching it this weekend. I was aware of this gay subculture in the African-American community. I believe it’s all the rave in New York, Baltimore and most major urban cities. But I really can’t saying any else. Just, fierce.
An analysis of their language would be so interesting. It would require knowledge of African-American Vernacular English, specific regionalisms, and gender studies. The performances are just amazing to watch.
